| I always thought Stanford campus was one of the safest places in the US, but this may no longer be true. I am not being over paraniod, just that we are now overwhelmed by facts suggesting our safety is in jeopardy.
First of all, within a week, there were two ARMED robberies in the campus! A girl was mugged at gumpoint in a parking lot near her dorm at 10pm on Wednesday the week before. Then on the following Monday another student was robbed, also at gunpoint, just at the entrance of his dorm! (Read the story on the newspaper if you feel interested.)
Not only that, I received an email a few hours ago warning us there are MOUNTAIN LIONS on our campus. Here is the quote of the email,
The Stanford Department of Public Safety has received two reports of
mountain lion sightings on campus in the area of 651 Serra and near
Stock Farm and Campus Drive on Saturday night, May 20, 2006.
DO NOT
WALK ALONE and BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!

All of a sudden the campus seems to be full of dangers, unbelievable! Though our campus has been known by many as a 'farm', frankly I never
expect to see any animals, apart from humans, as fierce as lions, or pumas or mountain lions, you know big cats
which may eat somebodies, next door. Our campus is civilised, not
somewhere out in wilderness. Raccoons are the fiercest wild animals
that I've ever encountered. It is supposed to be a peaceful
paradise! That must be Bush's fault. All things suddenly go wrong after his visit. He has brough to us all the evils with him.
I used to work in my office until very late at night, and so did many others. Now, most people leave before 7, and I won't stay after 8. Who knows when this hysteria will last.......
